Made in French and American oak. 50% Monastrell, 25% Malbec, and 25% Petit Verdot. TASTING NOTES:
Dark purple-red color. Goji berries and sour cherries on the nose. Lots of cherry, oak, black pepper, intense blueberry-grape jam, pencil shavings, chocolate covered raisins, blackberry, black currant. Sweet tannins at the core. Black cherry candy on the finish. A wine with great finesse and power.
SCORE & RECOMMENDATION:
93 PTS
Complexity abounds. There is a lot going on here and all quite harmoniously. Really a pleasant surprise. This wine rocks and delivers on balance, structure, flavors and aromas. The alcohol is also in check. For $30 this wine delivers the goods. Highly recommended.
Hi,
ReplyDeleteThere is a big controversy going on right now whether there were several batches released of this wine with perhaps 2 of the batches being sub-standard. If you still have the bottle could you give the lot and bottle number from the label?
Here are some links on the issues:

Hey Chris,
ReplyDeleteI unfortunately don't have the bottle number. Wish I did. I can only say that the bottle I drank was very good. Clearly had no issues.

Thanks. Apparently the good bottles were quite good but not as good as TWA's 96 would suggest. I think the Cellartracker average is about 91.
ReplyDeleteThat 91 does not include the large numbers of "flawed" ratings for which no number was attached.
Thanks again for getting back to me so quickly and I'll let them know on Wineberserkers. Stop by if you'd like!
I look forward to reading more on the topic in the future. Keep up the good work! This blog is going to be great resource. Love reading it.
ReplyDeleteVery Nice review and I kind connect with what I read.
ReplyDeleteI agreee with what you said..wish that you keep working the same manner and educating us till the end.
