NEUDORF NELSON CHARDONNAY - 2009

13.5% alcohol. 100% Chardonnay from New Zealand.

TASTING NOTES:

Straw yellow color.  Graceful and focused with peach, citrus, melon and restrained oak.  Extremely balanced with a lingering finish.

SCORE & RECOMMENDATION:

If you are looking for a Burgundian-like Chablis that doesn't have the buttered popcorn attack of so many bold California Chardonnays, then this wine is for you.  It is extremely well put together. New Zealand continues to impress me with their ability to make cost effective varietals that deliver high quality. NZ has tackled and mastered Sauvignon Blanc and has added Pinot Noir to their successful resume.  Chardonnay is clearly next. New Zealand's ability to produce high quality for low prices seems limitless.  Retails for $29.
