DOMAINE "LA GARRIGUE" COTES DU RHONE CUVEE ROMAINE - 2004

A 7000 case blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah with 14% alcohol.

TASTING NOTES:

Light garnet color with an earthy nose of herb, green pepper, sweet vanilla and barnyard. There's zippy acidity on the tongue and loads of black pepper notes, black currant, licorice and tobacco leaf. There's also a bit of alcohol/heat on the finish, but fairly smooth overall.

SCORE & RECOMMENDATION:

86 PTS
Robert Parker scored this one 90 points and if you absolutely love peppery Cotes Du Rhone then you'll probably agree. I just didn't find this wine very exciting. It is extremely dry and not completely balanced. There is great value here for $10, but not great enjoyment.

1 Comments:

  • We agree that the wine is not balanced and reminds me of a 'barnyard'. It was given as a gift and now I wonder if my friend really likes me.
