MEANDRO DO VALE MEAO DOURO - 2004

A blend of 30% Touriga Nacional, 30% Tinta Roriz, 30%Touriga Franca, 5% Tinta Barroca and 5% Tinta Amarela. The wine has an alcohol content of 14.5%.

TASTING NOTES:

Dark color with a saturated blueberry and licorice nose. Lots of blueberry, blackberry, black currant, chocolate liqueur and vanilla on the palate. Dense with lush tannins, clean, rich and powerful.

SCORE & RECOMMENDATION:

91+PTS
Ripe fruit with great concentration. There's simply no denying how good these Douros out of Portugal are being made. Tremendous quality. For $18 a bottle the value here is immense. I'm convinced that a bottle like this will cost twice the price in the years ahead as Portuguese wines grow in popularity.
