EL NIDO CLIO - 2004

From Jumilla, Spain. 15.5% alcohol. 70% Monastrell, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon.

TASTING NOTES:

Purple color with a nose of mocha, coffee, rip berries, and vanilla. On the palate, flavors of mocha, black currant, cherry and oak abound. Gritty tannins make for a nice chewy mouthfeel. Wonderful chocolate covered raisins on the finish. Great length, smooth and powerful with still a lot of finesse.

SCORE & RECOMMENDATION:

92+ PTS
This is a superstar wine that continues to hold its own. I have not tasted recent vintages as I had pulled this one from the cellar, but all of my experiences with the Clio have been extremely positive. There is a consistent quality and style to the brand that makes it a winner every time.
