MARYNISSEN ESTATES CABERNET-MERLOT - 2002

13.2% alcohol from Niagra on the Lake, Ontario.

TASTING NOTES:

Dark red color with a dark chocolate cherry nose. Sweet tannins. Very Bordeaux-esque. Lots of cherry, black currants, and cassis with chocolate covered raisins on the finish.

SCORE & RECOMMENDATION:

90 PTS
The best bottle of Canadian wine I've ever tasted. I've raved about this wine in the past and it simply is the best example of well-crafted Canadian red wine that I've encountered. It is terrific that Ontario has found a style that suits them. Instead of trying to make big fruit California styled wines (which always seem to come up thin and weak), this more earthy Old World wine hits the mark.
